How to Use PrettyLitter
PrettyLitter is made of super absorbent, lightweight silica gel. Silica gel crystals are extremely absorbent, more so than other litter types, so you need less litter to do the same job.
Our long-lasting, non-clumping litter means lighter trash bags, less scooping and less trips to the store. On the other hand, traditional clumping litters turn urine into large (heavy) clumps that need to be scooped out and replaced throughout the month. The super dry silica gels in PrettyLitter absorb the urine and odor, trapping it inside as the water in the urine evaporates out. The solid waste is all you need to scoop and dispose of.

Each bag of PrettyLitter is designed to last an entire month for one medium sized cat in an average sized litter box (12" x 16"). After you pour your PrettyLitter into your litter box, use the ruler card in the bag to make sure you are getting the proper 2" of depth. If you aren't getting the proper amount of depth in your litter box, talk to us! We'll set you up with the perfect subscription plan for your needs. Our team can be reached at meow@prettylitter.com.mx.
Pour the entire contents of the PrettyLitter bag into a clean litter box. Make sure you are getting the proper 2 inches of depth. Remove your cat's feces every day. When you scoop the feces, make sure to shake off the extra litter granules. Thoroughly mix the litter every day to avoid saturating the same spots in the litter box that cats prefer to urinate in. When the litter is saturated, typically after a month's use, empty the entire litter box's contents into a trash bag. If there is any residue on the bottom of the litter box, clean the litter box before pouring in your new supply of PrettyLitter. Regularly check the color of the litter. Shades of yellow to olive green are an indication of typical acidity and alkalinity levels. If you notice any other colors, thoroughly mix the litter and monitor your cat's PrettyLitter closely over the next 24 to 48 hours. If color change persists, you should consider consulting your Veterinarian.
PrettyLitter is a non-clumping litter. The super dry silica gels absorb the urine and odor, trapping it inside as the water in the urine evaporates out. The solid excrement is the only waste you need to scoop and dispose of. Just throw it away like you normally would and replace all of the litter every month. Don’t be alarmed if the litter gradually turns yellow over time, this just means PrettyLitter is doing its work to trap and absorb odors.

Most cat's take to PrettyLitter immediately, but some cats have a harder time transitioning. We all know cats can be picky, so this may happen if your cat doesn't recognize PrettyLitter's new texture, color, or (lack of) smell.
Luckily we have some tips to help with the transition! Try taking one poop and one urine clump from the old litter and put it into the new PrettyLitter fill. Your cat will recognize the familiar smell and know this is still their bathroom. This has been really successful in transitioning our feline family members to PrettyLitter!
Another method would be to fill your litter box with 75% PrettyLitter and add a 25% layer of the old litter to the top. Your cat will mix it in themselves and then you can use 100% PrettyLitter next month when you replace it!

Absolutely! Multi-cat households love PrettyLitter.
But, what about health monitoring, you ask? If your cats share a litter box and you notice a color change, PrettyLitter recommends having an extra box and extra bags of PrettyLitter on hand so you can isolate their bathrooms and see which cat may be having an issue.

Yes. PrettyLitter's sand-like texture works great with many automated self-cleaning litter boxes. If your litter box already works well with other crystal litters it will work great with PrettyLitter.
Each bag of PrettyLitter is designed for a medium or "average" size litter box around 16 inches long and 12 inches wide. PrettyLitter requires a minimum depth of 2 inches for a litter box being used by one cat. One bag will accomplish that. If you use a larger litter box you may want to consider buying an extra bag in order to provide proper depth.
If your cat is older or on the larger side, we recommend you get your litter box up to at least 3" of depth for optimum absorption. In this case, we'd recommend buying an extra bag of PrettyLitter and use just half of that bag along with the first bag. Additionally, if you have a cat that loves to dig, that extra bag will get you to at least 3 inches of litter lining the surface of the tray.
If you have a multi-cat household, we recommend a minimum of one bag of PrettyLitter per cat. For example, if two cats are using one litter box, we suggest two bags. If each cat has their own litter box, but one is used more than the other, we suggest two bags per box.
There are many different sizes of litter boxes, and every household's litter box usage is different, so if you ever need more or less litter, we're happy to help anytime. Feel free to contact our CS team at meow@prettylitter.com.mx.

- Increased risk of struvite stone formation in the bladder
- Certain species of bacteria of feline urinary tract infection (bacteria that causes the infection can increase urine pH)

Our super absorbent silica gel eliminates smells by trapping urine inside (not clumping around it) and drying out feces. By drying out your cat’s waste, PrettyLitter is obliterating odors even before you have a chance to scoop.
PrettyLitter was developed by a team of veterinarians and scientists specifically for cats.
Our litter is made with Silica Gel, which you may be familiar with from other packaged products. Silica gels are inert, clear crystals made from naturally occurring minerals. Just as it's safe to place in a bag of your favorite jerky, it's safe to have in your cat's litter box.
Curious about the "do not eat" print on silica gel packets? Those are not recommended to eat because the bags are considered a choking hazard. While we would never suggest ingesting litter, the gel crystals are household-safe. The litter is not absorbed by the bowel and does not swell in the presence of humidity.
Often, silica gel in cat litter is confused for crystalline silicate , which is classified as hazardous material by the OSHA. No crystalline silica is used in PrettyLitter or any other silica gel based litter.

PrettyLitter reacts to the pH of your cat’s urine. When urine comes in contact with the litter, it can turn orange, green, blue, or if there is noticeable blood present in the urine you will see red on the white litter.
When the litter is olive green to yellow, your cat’s urine is within the typical range. Want to test this color? Tap water will have a similar pH and show green to yellow.
The litter turns blue when urine is more alkaline than normal and may mean a urinary tract infection, for example. Want to test your litter? Ammonia will have a similar pH and show blue.
The litter turns orange when urine is more acidic than the normal range. This may mean bladder crystals or stones. Want to test this color? Vinegar will have a similar pH and show orange.
Because our litter is white, blood in urine appears red and is easy to spot. We advise against mixing PrettyLitter with any other litter because it can affect the visibility of the color change and its performance.

Unlike cat food, medicine, and supplements, PrettyLitter does not have a shelf life or an expiration date. As long as you keep the cat litter dry and protect it from moisture, you can store it for extended periods if it remains unused or unopened. To help avoid the potential of expired cat litter and to maintain maximum freshness, we recommend that pet owners store the cat litter in a cool, dry place, avoiding areas with high moisture levels such as bathrooms and laundry rooms.
